for Weight LossCycling for Weight Loss
Cycling is another way to help you lose weight and gain
fitness. It doesn’t specifically target weight loss, and you
will find that you tone the excess rather than losing it
altogether.
However, cycling is a great way to keep fit, and you can
cycle almost anywhere be it through the countryside at a
weekend or to work every day. You could even make a day of it
and have friends or family join you once a week, as there are
plenty of great routes all over the country.
If you’re relatively new to cycling, you will find it hard
going initially as you don’t tend to use your leg muscles in
quite the same way when walking around or driving. This means
it is best to start small, just taking a 20 minute ride
perhaps to the shops or to work, before working your way up to
a several mile ride of a weekend or evening. Like walking, you
can spend as little or as much time cycling as your schedule
allows, making it another ideal activity for the busier
lifestyle.
You won’t see instant results like most weight loss
methods, but cycling can be fairly intensive so with regular
exercise you will start to see your fitness improving, excess
weight lost and a more toned lower body. It is important that
you take precautions and drink plenty of fluids as you will
tend to lose a lot through sweating, especially on a hot day.
Cycling will cost a little more than other activities, as
you should invest in a reasonable quality bike, helmet, water
bottle and accessories. It will all seem worthwhile when
you’re out and about though, enjoying the fresh air, exercise,
and working towards the figure you’ve been looking for.
