There are numerous fitness videos available, with everybody
from professional exercise instructors to celebrities cashing
in on the latest keep fit craze. However, it is important to
do a little research to ensure sure you make a worthwhile
purchase.
The first thing to consider is the kind of workout you’re
looking for. You can get instructional videos on everything
from step aerobics, to kick boxing to yoga, so it’s handy to
have an idea of the kind of exercise you want to do. As you
can imagine, the speed of weight loss will depend largely on
the exertion of the exercises. Aerobics and kick boxing will
work up a sweat and have you shedding pounds in no time,
though yoga or Pilates are much more gentle exercises so
you’re unlikely to see significant weight loss any time soon.
Most DVD’s will suggest the amount of time you should spend
exercising, though a rough guideline is around half an hour
per day if possible. You should start gently if you haven’t
exercised much in the past, and many videos will contain
exercise programs from 15 minutes up to an hour depending on
your strength, stamina or available time.
As with any exercises, you should wear comfortable clothing
and be sure to take in plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.
The best part is that you can spend as little or as much
time exercising as you wish. You can also exercise whenever
you have time, meaning that even if you lead a busy lifestyle,
you can still squeeze in 15 or 20 minutes here and there to
keep fit.
