Tips for Losing Cellulite

Cellulite is fibrous fat that is commonly found on the buttocks and thighs. Even women who are slender and fit can suffer from cellulite. Cellulite is different from regular fat because it has a cottage cheese type appearance. It's also often more difficult to get rid of than regular body fat. In this article, you'll learn more about the various ways of fighting cellulite and obtaining the smooth, sleek look you desire.

Exercise is one of the most effective ways to get rid of unsightly cellulite. Cardiovascular activity is ideal because it allows the body to burn away fat, including cellulite. Try swimming, biking, hiking and stair climbing, which all put focus on the areas where this type of fat is most prevalent. Three to five sessions of cardio per week at twenty minutes per session is ideal for melting away the flab and encouraging a smoother, sleeker body.

Along with cardiovascular activity, strength training can also help tone the body and eliminate the appearance of cellulite. Try working with light weights and focusing on the areas that need the most attention. If you are a member of a gym, you'll find many different machines designed to target the thighs and buttocks, which are prime locations for cellulite. Leg lifts, squats, and lunges are simple exercises that can be done at home without the use of a machine.

You may have seen the many creams and gels on the market that claim to reduce the appearance of cellulite. But do they actually work? While creams and gel type products can smooth and tighten the skin, they're not going to burn off fat or cellulite. They can certainly enhance results of your workout, however. Using them in conjunction with a good diet and exercise plan certainly wouldn't hurt. Some people go for weight loss body wraps that use these products, which are offered at many day spas.

Another way to help speed the elimination of cellulite is by using a sauna. A sauna uses penetrating heat to raise the metabolism, boost the circulation and help get rid of extra fat. Be sure to ask your doctor whether or not you should use a sauna. Some people, like those with low or high blood pressure, or women who are pregnant, are advised not to use a sauna. If you're given the go-ahead, one or two sessions per week can boost your cellulite fighting efforts.
