Using Herbs to Lose Weight

Herbs are one of the safest ways to enhance the results of your weight loss program. There are lots of different herbs and natural components that can help your body burn fat more effectively. Even though most herbs are perfectly safe to use, it's important to check with your physician before taking them. This is because combining certain herbs and certain medications can lead to potentially serious interactions. If you're interested in using herbs as part of your weight loss program, keep reading to learn about some top choices:

Cayenne -- Cayenne works to increase circulation and improve the digestive process. It also is considered a thermogenic herb, which means it heats up the body's core temperature and boosts the metabolism. The more efficiently your metabolism works, the faster you can lose weight.

Green Tea -- You may have already heard that green tea contains healthy antioxidants. But did you know it also helps speed the metabolism and increases the oxidation of fat? Green tea can do all of this and more. The best part is, it's low in caffeine and thought to be quite safe.

Nettle -- It's not exactly understood how nettle works to help the body shed excess weight. It's thought that nettle is an appetite suppressant. What is understood is that nettle contains lots of vitamins and minerals like Vitamin C, Vitamin E, calcium and potassium, to name a few!

Red Pepper -- Red pepper isn't technically an herb, but it can be used to raise the metabolism which can lead to fat loss. Simply by adding dried red pepper to meals, you can reap the rewards it has to offer. If you enjoy hot foods, red pepper is ideal for you.

Cardamom -- Cardamom is another thermogenic herb which heats the body and helps boost the fat burning process. Not only that, but flavorful cardamom is also considered to be very good for the digestion. This herb is a common ingredient in many dishes and one of the main components of chai tea.

Cinnamon -- Another flavorful thermogenic herb is cinnamon. This common kitchen spice can do a lot more than simply make foods taste better. Cinnamon helps rev up the metabolism just like other thermogenic herbs, but the benefits don't stop there. This spice can lower bad cholesterol and even blood glucose levels.

Dandelion -- Dandelion is often thought of as a weed, but in fact it is so much more. Dandelion is great for the liver, and helps it function more efficiently. The better the liver functions, the better the metabolism works. Dandelion is also thought to possess healthy detoxifying effects and is sometimes taken in conjunction with another great liver cleanser, milk thistle.
